2021 - Our Year in Review
The Tusca-Ridge Garden Club (TRGC) ended another successful Greens Sale 2021 with a profit of $5,000!
The Club celebrated together at the annual Christmas luncheon held Dec.6 at Jackson’s Restaurant, Monaca. This year it was wonderful to have more members participate. Attendance was really down in 2020 due to COVID concerns.
New officers were sworn in at the brief meeting prior to lunch.
From a collection at the luncheon, and some additional sales, the TRGC gave $647.00 to The Women’s Center of Beaver, our worthy cause for the year.
The entertainment was provided by handbell tapestry solo artist, Sue Garton, accompanied by Mary Rita Rossetti, on the keyboard. Both are local musicians and provided an amazing performance!
TRGC is a very social club always looking for new interested members!
We meet in March-December, usually at the Two Mile Run Park in Beaver Pa.
Every year we kick off with our plant exchange when everyone brings plants from their gardens, (or a planting item) to exchange.
The “make and take” meeting is always a favorite! This year we made Fairy Gardens out of clay pots and things gathered outside (like moss, tree bark,etc) They turned out adorable and were so much fun!
Every summer is our Member Garden Tour. We spend a day traveling to members homes visiting their beautiful gardens.
A field trip is a club event each year as well. We went to The Pittsburgh Botanical Gardens near Robinson Twp.in July. Since our club is a member, we were given a guided tour of the Gardens and afterwards we held our July meeting in their conference area.
At the monthly meetings we are treated to informative programs by expert speakers. We listened to a Conservation Program on “Birds and Climate Change” and one on “Re-Imagine your landscape”.
After an active summer, we get ready to “roll up our sleeves” and prepare for the big event of the year— our annual Greens Sale! It’s a lot of work , but a lot of fun, and very gratifying!
Last year our Sale was held online because of Covid. This year we held a pre-sale online and then a one day Sale at College Ave. United Methodist Church, Beaver on Nov.20.
